Air Tours - Fly over Cairns and the beautiful Great Barrier Reef

The best way to see Cairns region including the Great Barrier Reef has to be from the top. It is an amazing experience.

Helicopter Tours

The most popular air tour is the helicopter. A helicopter tour is such a unique experience, the flight is gentle and comfortable. If you have never done it before Cairns would be the perfect place for you to try.

There's nothing better than a spectacular flight over the largest living organism on earth, the Great Barrier Reef; or over one of the oldest rainforests in the world, Kuranda and the Daintree. This is a great opportunity to take beautiful photos of the area to show everybody back home.

The most common day tour combing a helicopter ride is flying to the reef one way and cruising by boat the other way. Passengers can fly first and cruise back, or the opposite. This is a quite special tour because the helicopter lands on platform in the middle of the reef and then you are transferred to the boat where you will spend the rest of the day snorkelling, diving and generally exploring the reef. This is such a complete tour. You can see the reef in so many different angles, from the top and from underwater.

For those after an extra special day they can fly both ways, travelling to the reef by helicopter and at the end of the day fly again back home. This is such a VIP treatment and an incredible experience.

High Wing

Also available in Cairns is a high wing low scenic flight. This is a more of a budget tour but still a great adventure to have and getting the same amazing views of Cairns.

The high wing aircarft can't offer a fly / cruise or cruise / fly as there is no possibility of them lading on the reef but they offer an early flight providing travellers with the option to travel to the reef on the same day. The Tour Operator will take passengers for a flight over the reef and rainforest and drop them off at the Reef Terminal to catch their boat to the reef.
