Kuranda is a famous tourist destination in Cairns known as 'The Village in the Rainforest'. Kuranda receives thousands of tourists each week and the best way to get there is either travelling by the Kuranda Scenic Railway or experiencing the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, or a combination of the two. Some of the attractions in Kuranda include the Bird World Kuranda, the Butterfly Sanctuary, the Koala Gardens Sanctuary & the Rainforestation Park (park with many attractions).
Kuranda provides visitors with many shopping opportunities including the popular Kuranda markets where there is a range of stalls with locally made arts, crafts and produce. Kuranda also has numerous art galleries and specialty shops offering a wide selection of designed art, clothing and handicrafts as well as a variety of sidewalk cafes and restaurants.
In close proximity to Skyrail’s Smithfield terminal is an indigenous center called "The Tjapukai". This Indigenous Dance Theatre is a great tour opportunity to learn more about Australia and its indigenous people. Also not very far is Hartley's Crocodile, a park where visitors safely get close to big and beautiful crocodiles.
