Fitzroy Island is a tropical island located 29 kilometers south-east of Cairns or 45 minutes by ferry from Cairns marina. Fitzroy is an island covered in tropical rainforest surrounded by a beautiful reef making part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The total area of the island is 339 hectares and the highest point of the island is 375 metres above sea level.
Fitzroy Island is a great place for families specially those ones with kids. There are so much to do and explore around the island. Visitors can walk through the rainforest, swim in the calm waters of Welcome Bay, see the fish swarm underneath the jetty or build sandcastles at Nudey Beach. Also it is a great place for hiking with four walking tracks established on the island.
