What to do with the kids in Cairns during the school holidays?

Water Sports

Any type of water sport is a great activity to do with your kids. The hot and humid weather of Cairns makes the activity the perfect choice for the whole family to enjoy.

There are several options when it comes to a water activity around the Cairns region. A simple but fun activity that everyone loves is the Bumper Tube, a "banana boat" that takes up to 4 people for a fun ride around Trinity Inlet. It is an exciting budget option to do with the family.

Another exciting and interesting option is the Flyboard. A Flyboard is a water-jet powered board which allows propulsion in the air, as well as under the water. The Flyboard combines water sports with flying and it is a wonderful activity for children over 12 years of age. They will feel like they are flying and they will love the experience.

Island Tours

To travel to a tropical island is also a great option to do with your children. They will love to spend the day in the water exploring the Great Barrier Reef while you relax by the beach.

One of the most popular islands around the Cairns region is Fitzroy Island which is located only 45 minutes by boat from the marina. The island offers many activities for kids making it a perfect day for families. Horse Riding and ATV in Cairns are both a fantastic experience and this is because the ride is done through the rainforest, creeks and mountains, providing riders with beautiful scenery. The horse riding and ATV tours usually go for about 2 hours and it can be done in the morning or afternoon.
